Deborah Sagal-Cotler, wife of New York Press Photographer’s Association President and freelance photographer Bruce Cotler, died September 15 after a long illness. She was 54.
Cotler, a life-long resident of Brooklyn, was a special education teacher with the Department of Education up until her illness permanently sidelined her.
She was a graduate of Brooklyn College with bachelor’s degree in art.
She met President Cotler while attending Brooklyn College and they were married for more than 25 years. She was a devoted mother to her two daughters, one of whom is currently attending her alma mater.
She is survived by her husband, Bruce; daughters, Samantha and Emily; her mother, Dorothy Sagal and her brother, David Sagal.
The funeral will be held on Sunday September 18th, 1 p.m. in a graveside service at Beth David Cemetery, 300 Elmont Road, Elmont N.Y.
