Eugene Joseph Kappock NY Daily News sports photographer for 40 years, Army veteran Eugene Joseph Kappock of Berkeley Heights, N.J., formerly of Montclair, N.J., passed away at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, N.J., on Sunday, March 1, 2015, at the age of 87. Eugene was born in Jersey City, N.J., and lived in Montclair for 27 years before moving to Berkeley Heights in 2006. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955. Eugene was a sports photographer for the New York Daily News newspaper in New York City for 40 years before retiring in 1992 and was a member of the New York Press Photographers’ Association. Eugene was the beloved husband of the late Margaret (nee Hannon). He was the loving father of Barbara Dlugosz, her husband, Eric, of Berkeley Heights, his son, Brian Kappock and his wife, Filomena, of Weehawken, N.J. He was the cherished grandfather of Bridget, Katie, Matthew, Brian, Olivia, and Jack. He was the dear brother of the late Patrick and James Kappock.
