2ND PLACE - Julio Cortez – The Associated Press – “George Floyd Protests” - A man shouts while marching with protesters in downtown Minneapolis, Friday, May 29, 2020. Violent protests erupted in Minneapolis, and eventually across the country and other parts of the world, as people took to the streets after seeing cell phone video footage of George Floyd, an unarmed black man, dying at the hands of Minneapolis Police officers when officer Derek Chauvin kept his knee on the neck of Floyd for almost nine minutes on Memorial Day. After several nights of burning Minneapolis buildings, including the overtaking of the police department’s third precinct, state police and national guard members arrived and confronted protesters with violence before the city could pause and began mourning Floyd’s death.
